Bogus Marriages Ireland




Over 200 cases of marriage or intended marriage between International & European men and women in Ireland are being investigated by the Garda National Immigration Burea.

Officers believe that many of the marriages are undertaken so that the men & women can secure residency in the State and carry out other acts of fraud.

Irish detectives are looking at sites like http://www.cunamhde.com/ and people like Joseph Ryan (Pictured) who perform as bogus priests to fool legitimate state registry staff. Mr Ryan, a man of questionable character who coordinates the services is being investigated.

A 27-year-old Polish man, who was arrested as part of the investigation, was assisting the Gardai with their enquiries following the conviction of an Asian man when he was caught and sentenced with two false passports.

It is unknown how many people have supplied passports to people like Mr Ryan but the entire matter is under investigation and the message from head quarters this week to all Irish and Foreign nationals Do Not Forward Passorts to operators of ficticious websites or those who communicate with you over the internet with the intent providing a marriage service.

Minister for Justice Dermot Ahern said he is concerned about the issue.Mr Ahern told the weekend's EU Justice Minsters Conference that over 480 applications for residency by men & women between American, Latvian, Polish, Estonian & Irish citizens.
